Hi everyone, My name is Melissa and I am after any information that anyone may have regarding the Welsh/Mason family. I have been told that my great grandmother Gladys Eva May Mason grew up in and around Werris Creek and Quirindi areas. I know that the Mason family lived near the Daley's opposite the river going out of town and Gladys worked as a cook at the Railway Motel.

My grandmother Barbara Cambridge (born Williamson - daughter of Gladys) often visited Roy Mason and family regularly when I was a child. Nan would tell stories of growing up and visiting Werris Creek, watching movies under a tarp with other family members outside the community hall which has lead me to believe that we are Aboriginal. Later in life I tried to talk to my nan about this however she would shut me down, simply saying we don't talk about that so I never really pushed.

As an adult I have traced my family tree but still have not found any connections. I have always felt a strong connection to country and other Aboriginal peoples and I would like to be able to confirm this and truly connect with my mob and teach my children.

I hope someone hear will be able to at least point me in the right direction.

Hi looking for information on the Wye family in Brewarrina. I am a descendant of Joseph Wye in Gongolgan/Brewarrina/Bourke around 1860. His nephew was Alfred Wye/Whye who had a son Alfred Earnest Wye/Whye in Brewarrina around 1879. Thank you

I am trying to find a Christening/Baptism record for my husband's grandmother who was born Ada Sutherland but apparently her name was changed to Edith May. Her parents were James Sutherland and Sarah Nash. She was born in 1891. They also had a son Edward George Sutherland also born in Brewarrina in 1888. Any assistance would be appreciated.

I are seeking any information on a possible store possibly named P C Hill General Store probably run by William John Callaghan who married my grandfather’s sister Margaret Sullivan Hill. Their son Paul was born in Brewarrina in 1896. I believe WJ Callaghan later ran a store at Lithgow for P C Hill, where he died in 1907.

I am interested in finding more about my Grandmother Elizabeth (Bessie) Hammond - (born McIntosh)

She was born in Brewarrina Aug 24th 1894

Died Sept 15th 1934 in Goodooga NSW

I have nothing of her activities in Brewarrina, only her marriage to my Grandfather,George William Robert Hammond in Goodooga NSW. I have pics of her Grave and Wedding pics. 

Any information and if she had any Aboriginal connections, would be greatly appreciated.

married  aboriginal Samuel Payne from Tilpa, daughter Florence edith Payne whom married twice to  a  Hignett , then a white fella also called Payne but from Forbes

Robert Tompkins is the father of my paternal grandmother, Florence Amelia O'Shea,  (aka Anna Maria ) - nee Tompkins.

Florence, (1890 - 1930) married Patrick O'Shea in Boggabri, in 1908. They had 3 children; Keith, Jesse, & Norman.

Robert is buried in the Brewarrina cemetery. I would like to know more of his marriage details, ancestry & other descendants; - their places of birth, death, ... & any items that can assist me in research into my family history.

My father, Norman Patrick O'Shea, believed his mother's maiden name was Martin. My research, begun after his death, has proved that his belief is incorrect. This misconception of his is a source of mystery to me.
